Hello friends,
I want to share a small, everyday story from my life as a delivery driver—something that happened recently and keeps happening in little ways. It’s not dramatic, but it’s real, and it’s a perfect reference point for how we walk (or sometimes stumble) with that inner guidance we all have access to.
I was out on a shift, cruising along, when I felt a clear nudge: “Park here at this McDonald’s.” Nothing flashy—just a quiet knowing to pull in and wait a minute. So I did. I parked, sat there for about a minute… and then the practical mind kicked in. “Nah, probably nothing here. Better move on to a better spot.” I pulled out and hadn’t even gone a full mile when—ding—my app lit up with an order… right from that same McDonald’s I’d just left.
I laughed a little inside (maybe sighed too), made a quick U-turn, headed back, and picked up the order. No big loss, no drama—just a fast loop that showed me exactly what I’d almost missed by overriding the nudge.
That moment reminded me: the guidance is like a friend walking right beside us—patient, present, never forceful. It doesn’t yell or guilt-trip when we ignore it; it just waits, then gently shows us the “why” so we can learn and reconnect.
Here’s the deeper lesson from walking with the Spirit (or higher soul wisdom, that inner voice) as a true friend:This companionship isn’t about being perfect or never doubting. It’s about relationship—close, ongoing, forgiving.
- The Friend nudges softly in ordinary moments (a parking spot, a pause, a “yes” or “no” feeling).
- When the busy mind overrides (logic, fear, habit), the Friend doesn’t walk away or get angry. He stays close and often gives quick, kind feedback—like that order popping up almost instantly—to rebuild trust without shame.
- Our simple response? Notice it, say “I’m sorry” (a quiet apology to the friendship), make the correction if possible (the U-turn), and keep walking together. No long lectures needed.
- Over time, these little cycles strengthen the bond. We start pausing longer on the nudges, trusting faster, and the overrides happen less because we’ve seen—again and again—that the Friend is reliable and has our good in mind.
It’s not a boss-employee dynamic; it’s friend-to-friend. Always near, always gentle, always inviting us back into step.
So next time you feel that quiet pull—maybe in a decision, a conversation, or just choosing where to be—try treating it like a companion saying, “Hey, let’s try this together.” If you override, no big deal. Apologize softly, course-correct, and keep going hand-in-spirit-hand.
The path feels lighter when we remember we’re never walking alone.
What about you, friends? Have you had a “quick U-turn” moment lately where the guidance showed up right after you doubted it?
Share your story in the comments below—I read every one and love hearing how this shows up in your life.
If this resonated with you, give it a like, save it for later, or share it with someone who might need the reminder today.
